MICHELIN RESEARCH AND INNOVATION

Michelin Lifestyle (MLL) is an entity of Michelin Group, established in June 2000, responsible for extending the MICHELIN brand to new product categories, either directly or under trademark or technology licenses, in keeping with the Michelin Group’s mission and purpose, whilst delivering value and positive experiences for the client and remaining profitable.

MLL’s products and services:

  1. Increase the awareness and preference of MICHELIN as a tyre brand worldwide, supporting the “Better Mobility” platform
  2. Strengthen relationship of the brand with targeted consumers
  3. Enrich the Brand and increase tyre sales

The following outlines the typical key stages in the development of Michelin Vehicle Accessories and Michelin Footwear.

This fundamental stage consists of understanding consumers’ needs, what is available on the market to meet those needs and what innovation can be incorporated to ensure products meet and exceed the expectations of the consumers.

Michelin is an expert in technology and materials related to tires (eg: Rubber, textiles, steel, processes) and this expertise is used throughout our extensive Research and development facility in Ladoux in France to develop innovative products.

The design engineers manufacture many prototypes which are tested by external expert test houses. MICHELIN products are improved until customers’ expectations are met and the required performance is achieved. Once the prototype has been validated, the product is industrialized and the final production product is validated.

All MICHELIN products are tested and certified to prove that they meet the standards and regulations of the countries in which they are sold.
